Translation strings not ‘saved’?

Every time you make a text change in a Indesign document, do you have to re-translate everything and spend the credits again for those same translations? I thought that, logically, the translation strings would be ‘saved’ in the account or in the script, so as not to have to re-translate what has already been translated (in the style of the WPML translation plugin for Wordpress). Apparently not, or I don't understand it.

Nothing is saved, it is all retranslated again.
What you could do, if the strings are exactly the same, is prepare a "dictionary", translate all those phrases once only (not with Translate, with some other software), and then you would have a dictionary of pre-translated phrases which you wouldn't be charged for.

I did a first test attempt with Deepl's online translation + dictionary, but in the parts where I was supposed to translate using the dictionary, it mixed up the two translations (1+1). So I had to delete the words from the Deepl part, leaving only the dictionary string. Maybe I did something wrong?
