Translation strings not ‘saved’?

Every time you make a text change in a Indesign document, do you have to re-translate everything and spend the credits again for those same translations? I thought that, logically, the translation strings would be ‘saved’ in the account or in the script, so as not to have to re-translate what has already been translated (in the style of the WPML translation plugin for Wordpress). Apparently not, or I don't understand it.

Nothing is saved, it is all retranslated again.
What you could do, if the strings are exactly the same, is prepare a "dictionary", translate all those phrases once only (not with Translate, with some other software), and then you would have a dictionary of pre-translated phrases which you wouldn't be charged for.

I did a first test attempt with Deepl's online translation + dictionary, but in the parts where I was supposed to translate using the dictionary, it mixed up the two translations (1+1). So I had to delete the words from the Deepl part, leaving only the dictionary string. Maybe I did something wrong?

I created my own dictionary with all the translations, but it doesn't work. It only translates some of them and leaves the rest with fake text. Your solution doesn't work. So far, the plugin has been useless to me.

Sorry to hear it. It's working for many other people on a regular basis.
Are you talking about the DeepL Translate or Google Translate script?

When you say

... that sounds as though you clicked the "Test" button, instead of the "Translate with DeepL" button.
It's good to use the Test button first, to make sure that there are no problems (for instance, in the other thread you got a Syntax Error after clicking on Test), because it doesn't cost any money.
So, did you click on the Test button, or the "Translate with DeepL" button?
