Creating hyperlinks to line numbers using this script?

I am working on a book that will have a section referencing page numbers and page lines, for example: see p. 27, line 35. My staff and I are comfortable using page cross references for this sort of task, but we've never had a reason to reference page lines. Would this script be able to work in conjunction with something like that? I am otherwise stumped.

Please note that if we were to use the line number script, the lines would either have to be in the slug or on a non-printing layer (neither of which do I have much experience with).

I suppose your question is no longer relevant for the book you had in mind, as so much time has passed!
Still, for future reference, to continue the discussion, my questions are as follows:
Is the issue here that you're not sure how to create a cross reference to a specific location in the text?
Or is the issue that you want the actual line numbers in the reference text (e.g., the 35 in your example) to update if the text reflows?
Or both?
The Line Numbers script itself wouldn't directly help with either of those issues, but I could probably help with either of the issues with a customized script...

Ariel It's true, the book is done. But to answer your question: Yes, precisely. We would need the line number to update if/when the text reflows. I will check in again with you if and when the question arises, as it might well because we have two other books in this series (but they won't be put into production for some months).
